Amy Kosorek, Founder & Educator at Vuela



¡Hola! I'm Amy Kosorek, the founder of Vuela—a place where language takes flight. With 20 years of experience as a high school Spanish teacher, I’m passionate about helping students of all ages build confidence in Spanish and succeed academically.

​

My journey with the Spanish language began during my undergraduate studies, which took me abroad to both Costa Rica and Spain. Living with a host family in Costa Rica—and being lovingly corrected by my five-year-old host sister—sparked a lifelong love for the language and its culture. Spending my junior year in Granada, Spain, further fueled my passion for Spanish and its diverse cultures, ultimately inspiring me to become a Spanish teacher.

At Vuela, I offer private Spanish classes and academic tutoring using comprehension-based methods that focus on proficiency through storytelling, reading, cultural connection and meaningful conversation. My goal is to guide students toward real-world language proficiency while also deepening their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. I believe that learning a language not only broadens our perspective but also promotes empathy, strengthens cognitive skills, and supports academic growth.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me spending time with my children, practicing yoga, reading a good book, or planning my next travel adventure.
